With ‘heavy’ ceiling crown and an arched valance over the farm sink, the transitional, leaning toward traditional style is really shown. Barn board and reclaimed wood introduce texture and warmth to the space.
This two-toned kitchen was designed to be the heart of the home. The clients wanted a central family-oriented kitchen with a large island and their own table extending at one end. The focal point of the space is the large, L-shaped island with seating. Details include wainscot paneling, false doors and furniture toe kick to give the appearance of a custom piece of furniture.
The periphery of the kitchen is done with a 5-piece MDF door called the “Northfield”, which is a shaker style with a small cove moulding insert. It is finished in a water based, off-white colour called ‘Linen’. The maple island is stained in ‘Black Coffee’. The quartz countertops are ‘Windermere’, from Cambria, and compliment the two cabinet colour choices.
The cabinetry is stacked to reach the nine foot ceiling. This ‘built-in’ look is very popular and the top row of cabinets acts as a decorative accent showcasing glass doors with 4-lite mullions.
